Smart radiators for satellite thermal management

SmartIR's graphene tunable radiator controls thermal emission electronically in real time — enabling higher-power payloads and more efficient operation, with no moving parts, minimal mass and minimal power.

    FLIGHT HARDWARE

    The active electrochromic radiator

Our graphene variable-emissivity radiator unlocks more usable power — switching a satellite's thermal emission electronically instead of carrying bulky, failure-prone mechanical louvres. Flight units are in orbit today and being productised into a qualified, repeatable module.

    Thermal control, on demand

    Adaptive emissivity

Electro-optical graphene devices switch infrared emissivity in real time — radiating heat on the sun side, retaining it in eclipse.

    No moving parts

A solid-state alternative to louvres and mechanical radiators — flexible, lightweight tiles that conform to the spacecraft surface.

    Built for smallsats

Low mass and low power make dynamic thermal control practical for small satellites for the first time.

    DEFENCE

    Adaptive infrared signature management

Dynamic control of emitted infrared radiation to protect assets and personnel — patented graphene technology for multispectral adaptive emissivity across infrared and visible bands.

    Signature control across the spectrum

    Multispectral

Adaptive emissivity and absorption spanning infrared and visible bands from a single device architecture.

    Real-time & reversible

Electrically switched in real time — signatures adapt continuously to the threat environment and background.

    Conformal tiles

Flexible, lightweight, low-power tiles that coat platforms, structures and equipment without redesign.

    PRODUCT

    AdaptIR

    Adaptive IR camouflage technology

    SWIR · MWIR · LWIR · 0.9 – 30 μm

Electronically switchable variable-emissivity tiles that disrupt infrared signatures across the full IR spectrum. By dynamically modulating surface emissivity, AdaptIR degrades the ability of automated target recognition (ATR) systems to detect, identify and engage platforms — an active, intelligent optical skin for the sensor-driven battlefield, not a passive coating.

    • Variable emissivity — switchable across the full spectral range
    • ATR disruption — degrades detection, classification and targeting
    • Integrated microcontroller + control software, optional FIR camera

Smart optical solutions for metamaterials and phase-sensitive measurements

SmartIR's proprietary high-speed interferometric detection captures the full complex optical response — amplitude, phase and polarization — enabling a new class of compact vector metrology instruments.

    PRODUCT

    Orca

    The compact vector spectrometer

Orca is a modular platform for full-spectrum optical vector metrology. Broadband illumination and SmartIR's proprietary high-speed interferometric detection let Orca measure amplitude and phase simultaneously — in both reflection and transmission, across the visible and near-infrared.

    • Amplitude, phase and polarization
    • Reflection and transmission in one platform
    • Millisecond broadband acquisition
    • Thin-film, chirality and anisotropy from one instrument
    • Compact benchtop vector metrology
